Assad’s Regime: State-Sanctioned Robbery
What a regime! New evidence presented by Syria Direct News shows that a company owned by Maher al-Assad’s front Mohammad Hamsho and the Fourth Armed Division (headed by Maher) have together been knocking down perfectly safe buildings in Hajar al-Aswad to extract scrap metals. The neighborhood in the south of Damascus was bombed mercilessly by the regime until May 2018. As customary, Hadeed was given incentives and tax cuts at the time of establishment in 2006. The company had a declared capital of over 17 million USD at the time.
Here’s how it went for the Assads: You get the state to help you establish a company that you profit from; you then bomb your people for revolting against your corrupt rule; and later demolish everyone’s houses to sell the ruins.
