Finally!

Those of you who know me also know how hard I’ve been pushing publicly and privately for the Central Bank of Syria to provide a fair exchange rate for the money transferred by the UN. Hundreds of millions have been lost in the exchange over the past four years.

Today, the Central Bank agreed to give the UN a rate nearly identical to that prevailing in the black market. This means more money will reach the needy, and less will reach Assad’s criminal gang.

You often feel powerless working on Syria. This is not one of those moments.
