Quaterjis Gain Exclusive Oil Import Rights from Assad
A documentary published today from Arab News, a semi-official Saudi newspaper, says:
“But in May 2023, Syria was reinstated as a full member of the Arab League… The decision quickly began to bear fruit. Damascus vowed to tackle captagon trafficking across its borders with Iraq and Jordan. A week later, Syrian captagon kingpin Merie al-Ramthan was killed in an airstrike in his home in southern Syria... In mid-May, SANA reported that the authorities seized a million captagon pills destined for shipping abroad.”
Now here's the true version:
There are zero signs that the supply of captagon from regime-held Syria has declined since May.
Merie al-Ramthan was killed by Jordan, not the Assad regime.
The Assad regime has been doing cosmetic captagon seizures for years: the supposed million captagon pills seized in Aleppo constitute around 1% of Saudi Arabia’s average annual seizures over the past three years.
