GOP Congressman Joe Wilson (South Carolina, District 2) has put forward an amendment to the 2023 National Defense Authorization Act which will ban normalizing relations with Assad—ban it now, ban it in a transitional government, ban it forever.

For disputed reasons, Foreign Affairs Committee Ranking Member Gregory Meeks' (Democrat, New York District 5) "Captagon" amendment didn't make it to the 2022 NDAA.

The new amendment will not pass without the support of the Democrats. Is there anything that Syrians can do to make that happen?
