In an alarming development, Idlilb Governor Thaer Salhab says the government will offer the lands of those who fled from regime-held Idlib to opposition areas to "investors" to plant them with wheat.

These lands must be in and around Ma'arat al-Nu'man and Khan Shaykhun, recaptured by the regime in 2019–2020. People from the area tell me that the abandoned lands are currently mostly occupied by regime militias.

The land theft will now have legal cover.
