Ending Sanctions on Syria After Assad
Sectoral sanctions on Syria were imposed because of the human rights violations committed by the ancien Assad regime.
Issues like ensuring Israel's safety under Assad or removing Russian troops after the regime's downfall are irrelevant.
They further turn sanctions from a tool for accountability into a tool for hegemony.
Unilateral sanctions were for Assad; they should end now that he's gone.
UN sanctions on HTS are a whole different story.
