Jordan’s Faulty Assumptions Have Led to Carnage

Jordan seems to have lost all hope in the Assad regime taking genuine action against captagon suppliers. The Kingdom has never conducted such daring operations on Syrian territory since the two countries were established in the early 1920s.

A summary of open sources suggests that over the past three days, Jordan bombed at least five Syrian villages involved in the supply of drugs. The 11 air raids have killed 10 people, including a woman. Five more were killed and 13 arrested during border clashes.

It was crazy in the first place to think Assad would shoot himself in the foot and deprive his regime of such a significant source of income and political leverage without kinetic action.
