Opposition Forces Exploit Syrian Returnees as Assad Temporarily Relents
Only when we thought "you can't be more disgusting than the Assad regime"...
Assad's treatment of Syrian returnees from Lebanon, despite all the talk, is significantly better than the treatment provided by Turkish-backed and US-backed forces.
While the Assad regime has temporarily waived the requirement for returnees to exchange 100 USD into SYP, thousands of people are currently stranded between SDF and SNA-controlled areas because they cannot afford the hundreds of dollars per family demanded by armed groups to cross between the two regions.
Contrary to claims, it is not true that people are choosing to go to opposition-held areas. The vast majority of returnees have opted to remain in regime-held areas.
