In the spirit of normalization, the Syrian National Army and the Assad regime reopened the Abu al-Zendin crossing in Aleppo yesterday. 

The informal crossing, which has been operating since December 2017, has recently become an active smuggling route, benefiting warlords on both sides.

 

Reopening the crossing is a positive development, although many in the opposition disagree. 

 

Moving forward, eliminating all tariffs is essential to streamline the flow of goods, a necessary step toward economic reintegration.
