The Syrian government has just announced that it will cut its petrol (not diesel) supplies to all stations in the country by 50%.

While they didn't cite a reason, I believe it has nothing to do with the ability to contract suppliers or the sanctions. It has far more to do with the fact they have no money to pay for it.
