Despite all the fuss, only four persons have so far been sanctioned by the Caesar Act—all of whom are Syrian citizens already on the EU list.

Other recently sanctioned persons by the US, such as the Hamshos and members of the al-Assad family, were targeted under a 2019 executive order (EO13894), not the Caesar Act.
