One Year of Syria in Figures

Just one year was enough to turn data into a compass.

Today, we mark one year since the launch of Syria in Figures, a project by Karam Shaar Advisory Ltd., aiming to offer a trusted, nuanced, and apolitical data-driven view of Syria’s economy.

In our first year:

– We published more than 40 of analytical articles covering key economic and social topics.

– Interviewed senior officials, public figures, and decision-makers.

– Invited leading experts to share their own views.

– Asked tough questions

— and answered them with real data.

Our vision from day one: To make Syria in Figures an open platform that strengthens economic transparency and supports decision-makers and researchers with accurate, reliable information.

Today, a year after launch, Syria in Figures is proud to have become a reference for researchers and institutions alike:

“Syria in Figures is an invaluable source of information and has been extremely useful in my work. It explores issues that are overlooked and provides comprehensive, precise and very clear analysis on economic issues that are essential in the context of the transition.” — Marie Forestier, Senior Advisor, European Institute for Peace

“Karam Shaar provides one of the best contextual analyses of Syria. I’ve encouraged all my colleagues to read it, and regularly share its articles with them.” — Daniel Davies, Research Manager, REACH Syria

“We find the Syria in Figures publications provide relevant and timely information, which assists in our Syrian humanitarian aid response and advocacy.” — Anne Bulley, Communications Director, ReliefAid

And the big news? Syria in Figures is now available in Arabic with Issue #12 in Arabic coming out in just a few days, followed by full translations of our earlier issues.

Thank you to everyone who followed, shared, and believed that economic realities cannot be told without data.  What’s ahead? More data. Sharper analysis. Clearer insights.
